Bought lingerie for mother Hiroo, never been a problem, says Karan Johar

At a press conference in Mumbai, Karan Johar revealed the `bra scene` in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was relatable as he has shopped for lingerie for his mother Hiroo Johar who is in her 80s now

Karan Johar`s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is making waves at the box office. While the entertainment quotient is intact, the film also highlights issues that needed to be discussed long before. In one of the key scenes, Rani (Alia Bhatt)`s mother, played by Churni Ganguly, takes Rocky (Ranveer Singh) for lingerie shopping. At a store, Rocky feels embarrassed to be there and touch a bra. Followed by this, Rani`s mother gives an earful about men considering talks about women`s innerwear taboo. She further says their mothers and wives never hesitate to wash their underwear. She also teaches him a lesson on treating women as equals and not putting them on a pedestal by calling it `respect’.
At a press conference in Mumbai held on Thursday, Karan revealed that he resonated with the `bra scene` the most. The filmmaker shared he has shopped for lingerie for his 80-year-old mother Hiroo Johar. "I’ve gone shopping for her (mother) to buy a bra and it’s never been a problem with me. But I do know that while I did it there were friends, who were with me and were horrified that I was actually doing this and why I wasn’t designating this job to a female friend of mine. And I was like, ‘Why?’ It was asked by my mother, so why would I send somebody else to do it?"
