Jawan: Here's the origin story of the phrase 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya'

The third song from Jawan, Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya, will be releasing tomorrow on YouTube. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and others, is just a little over a week away from its much-awaited theatrical release. The dance number is picturised on the superstar. The phrase Ramaiya Vastavaiya was first used in Raj Kapoor`s film Shree 420.
The phrase has an interesting backstory. According to a report in Mayapuri, Raj Kapoor would often visit Khandala with his team of music composers during the making of Shree 420. Shanker, Jaikishan, Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri were in the team. They would halt at a motel for refreshments. Shanker, who was well-versed in the Telugu language, would talk to a waiter named Ramaiah.
