Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma`s pair has delivered yet another box office winner with Gadar 2. While Gadar has been their most popular franchise, it cannot be ignored that Apne (2007) was also a successful collaboration. The sequel will be made with Dharmendra, Sunny, Bobby Deol and Karan Deol. Apne 2 was scheduled to go on floors in 2021 but there`s no update on it yet. Amid the delay, Sunny confirmed that the script it ready.
At Gadar 2`s success press conference in Mumbai, the actor-politician spoke about Apne 2. Allegedly, he indirectly took a jibe at Katrina Kaif through his statement. Sunny said, "Apne 2 ki kahaani mere paas hai. Ab aage dekhte hai kab shuru karte hai. Bohot pyaari kahaani hai Apne 2 ki joh humare paas hai. Vahi family values pe hi hai joh Apne mein the. Usi ki extension hai. Bas mujhe lagte hai mere ek do actresses thi joh maa ka role karne se darr rahi thi shayad ab kar lengi. (I have the story of Apne 2. Let`s see when we manage to start working on it. The script we have for Apne 2 is heartwarming. It is about family values, just like Apne. The sequel will be an extension of it. There were a few actresses who were scared to play a mother on-screen, but might agree to be a part of the film now.)"
