Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam, which was earlier slated for a September 14th release, has now been postponed. The film will now hit the theatres on September 21, 2018. Batti Gul Meter Chalu's team recently wrapped up its shoot in Mumbai. Apart from this city, major parts of the film were shot in Tehri, Uttarakhand. While the picturesque landscape of Tehri serves as the ideal backdrop for a love song picturised on Shahid and Shraddha, the makers dug a little deeper into the village for the depiction of abject poverty, which was required for a crucial scene in the film.
Speaking about it, a production hand had earlier told mid-day, "The shoot could have been conducted in Mumbai, but Shree [Narayan Singh, director] wanted to ensure the scene looked authentic. The unit will need to travel for a couple of hours daily to reach the spot, but Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are willing to do so."
