Asha Bhosle while talking about `What Jhumka?`, shared that she feels like today’s music directors and singers don’t have the ability to create classics, otherwise, they wouldn’t be rehashing the old versions

The song ‘What Jhumka?’ from ‘Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ became one of the most loved tracks from Karan Johar’s film. ‘What Jhumka?’ is a remake of ‘Jhumka Gira Re, which was sung by Asha Bhosle. The veteran singer, while talking about the song, shared that she feels like today’s music directors and singers don’t have the ability to create classics, otherwise, they wouldn’t be rehashing the old versions.
In a conversation with India Today, Asha said, "If the music directors had the ability, or the singers, to bring something new… they don’t have the ability, that’s why they are recreating old songs." She then while talking about ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s ‘What Jhumka’, said, "For example, today ‘Jhumka Gira Re’ is working so well. It has come in a new film. It is an old song." The original version of the song was composed by music director Madan Mohan with lyrics by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan for the 1966 film ‘Mera Saaya’.
